Moon is in eclectic, avant-garde Aquarius, where we are future focused and can harness a sense of emotional detachment to see emotion under a compartmentalized, rational lens. This Moon is all cerebral, we are thinking about emotions rather than feeling them, analyzing, assessing, and sorting into patterns. This can be a productive time to think about the feelings of others before our own, as this detachment allows us to take things far less personally than we otherwise would be inclined. Today’s Aquarius Moon is waning ever so close to New, which will occur in Pisces on Wednesday afternoon, so we are now in Dark Moon territory, where it’s time to purge the old and outdated as we prepare to embrace a fresh cycle in a couple of days. Moon will sextile Chiron in Aries at 7:07 AM EST, a fire purge that can help us to sort out old wounds and see them in the context of NOW and what it may mean for the future rather than being bound to the past. Moon will make it’s monthly square to Uranus in Taurus at 8:50 AM EST, and morning may see unexpected issues and erratic behavior as people buck the status quo. Evening will entail more certainty as Moon makes a conjunction to Mercury, planet of thought and communication, in Aquarius at 8:11 PM EST, allowing us to express feelings and communicate about them rather easily. Moon will then move into a conjunction with Saturn, planet of discipline and outcome of effort made, in Aquarius at 9:01 PM EST, and we may catch a glimpse of limitations and what they mean for current plans and situations. Saturn in Aquarius has been quite prominent in forcing us to reconcile where the past went wrong, and these things will continue to arise until we let go of them. That is precisely what this pragmatic and open-minded Dark Moon is here to help us do.
Mars and Venus, planet of action/drive and planet of love/resources, are still running quite close to conjunct as they plod through Capricorn, with rigid expectations and tenacious conviction. Today, both planets will aspect the lunar nodes, which are points of destiny and crossroads in the path. The North Node represents where we need to collectively focus and move, and the South Node represents past experience from which we can draw as we harness that North Node. With the nodes recently moving into Taurus/Scorpio for the next year and a half, we are at a point of realignment of values and what we seek for comfort. Taurus is a North Node that wants us to strip down to simplicity, to care for the body and our immediate comfort, and to make security a sustainable priority. This is a time where we should be building, and establishing a firm foundation. The South Node in Scorpio, however, can make that difficult as old insecurities arise to haunt us, and old demons may appear so that they may be slain. Venus and Mars trine the North Node and sextile the South Node today encourages us to take whatever concrete and real steps we’ve put forth and ground them into reality, while remembering that what we face now does not necessarily entail the same dynamic to which we’re accustomed. This applies to relationships, resources, and also instinctual drives and action. Venus and Mars are a powerful unified force right now, and will be through their exact conjunction which will occur on March 6, after they move into Aquarius together. For now, they are wrapping up in Capricorn, and still have a conjunction with Pluto to endure on Thursday, which will demand a heavy purge and letting go.
