I agree completely, and I have also considered taking back my $5 monthly contribution. I am far more satisfied with the engagement that my work garners on my Patreon, and the ever fickle but useful world of Facebook. I initially chose Medium as a way to reach out to an audience that was willing to engage, and that worked at first. In the past year, I have stopped posting and have shifted my deeper work to my Patreon. People are far happier to pay for my work there, and my creative flow is far more inspired by creating what is relevant in accordance with engagement rather than writing to satisfy a broken and ignorant algorithm.
